Single brick in situ double shear instrument operation method
■ As shown, ** first pull out the other block adjacent to the block, remove the gray seams around it, and prepare a hole for the host. Its cross-sectional dimension should not be less than 115mmX65mm, and then hollow out and remove the vertical seam at the other end of the block.
■ The gray joints at both ends of the block should be cleaned up. During the excavation and cleaning process, the block is disturbed rigorously; if it is found that the block has obvious edges and corners or the upper and lower gray joints have obvious loosening, the block should be discarded. The pressure-bearing surface of the pushed block should be flat, otherwise it should be smoothed by tools such as variable grinding wheels.
■ Put the main body of the double-scissor instrument into the excavated hole, so that the cover plate of the instrument coincides with the top surface of the block, and the axis of the instrument coincides with the axis of the block. If the excavated hole is too long, another block should be added at the end of the instrument.
■ Press the manual pump to make the double shear device apply the horizontal load evenly to the block until the block and the block are displaced relative to each other, and the block reaches the damaged state. The whole process of loading should be 1-3min.
■ Record the digital pressure gauge reading when the block is broken. Based on this reading, the shear strength of the gray seam surface can be calculated.
